TERMS & CONDITIONS

Strength In Mumbers Terms & Conditions

Before you book with us, please make sure you read these Terms & Conditions thoroughly.

These terms form a legally binding agreement between Strength In Mumbers and you, so please make sure you are happy with everything before proceeding. If you have any questions, please email us at info@strengthinmumbers.com and we will be happy to help.

  1. About Us

Strength In Mumbers are pre and postnatal fitness specialists and it is our aim to bring you a fun, friendly environment you want to keep coming back to, week on week.

Our classes are suitable for all abilities and if there is something you cannot quite do, there are modifications for you to follow.

Strength In Mumbers classes are primarily aimed at postnatal women (with preschool age and under children), however we welcome women at all stages of their motherhood journey, including prenatal women (under advisement) and you can still benefit from our classes even if your child is too old to come.

2. About You

Our classes are designed for you to attend with your child(ren), but you are still able to benefit from our classes if you attend on your own without your child(ren).

To ensure we keep you as safe as possible during our classes please read the following:

  • If you are currently pregnant, please follow the advice of your midwife, GP, Consultant, or other health professional regarding participating in exercise during pregnancy.

  • We generally accept postnatal participants once you have had your 6-week postnatal check (or between 6 and 12 weeks post-natal if you had a C section). Again, please follow the advice of your midwife, GP, Consultant, or other health professional.

3. Our Classes

Our classes are held at different venues around the Andover area. When you book a class, you can choose the venue which is most convenient for you.

Each class lasts for approximately 45 minutes. Arriving just before the class begins gives your instructor time to welcome you and check if there are any changes to your health, so please try and arrive around 5 minutes before the start time.

Ordinarily our classes run alongside Hampshire school term time, sometimes with a short course during the summer holidays (this is at our discretion).

Classes are booked in courses; the number of weeks will depend on how long that half of the school term is. These are typically 5, 6 or 7 weeks long.

4. Booking

Please book through our website. However, you can also book ‘manually’ by contacting us directly (for example through Facebook, Instagram, or email). If you wish to book onto a course once a course has started, you will need to book ‘manually’ via email to info@strengthinmumbers.com as this is not a feature our website booking currently offers.

We will assume you have read and have accepted these Terms & Conditions if you have booked online. If you book ‘manually’ through us, you are entitled to a copy of these terms and conditions, if you request one, although they are also freely available on our website.

To request a copy of these Terms & Conditions please email us at info@strengthinmumbers.com

Once you have booked your course, you will receive a confirmation email confirming your booking and containing the dates and times of your classes.

5. Class Availability

Our class times and locations can be found on our website. These do change from time to time, so we encourage you to always double check the times and locations of our classes on our website before booking a course.

If there is no space on the class you wish to book a course for, please contact us via email and we will endeavour to put you on a waiting list for that class, if one is available.

6. Venues and Property Security

The venues that we use for our classes are not owned by us nor are they used exclusively by us. This means there may be times when a venue is unavailable for us to use. In these circumstances we may need to rearrange, move, or cancel a class at short notice.

If there is a suitable substitute location or time, we will let you know with as much notice as we can.

We reserve the right to permanently move a class to another time or location, in which case you will receive communication from us with your new class time and/or location. If you are unable to make the new class time or location, you must inform us as soon as possible. If you are unable to attend this new time or location, we will discuss with you your ability to move to a different class or alternative arrangements.

As venues are not owned by us nor used exclusively by us, we cannot guarantee the security of any property that you bring to the class with you. Please make sure that you put it in a safe place and always keep any valuables in your possession.

7. Refund Policy & Cancellations

When booking onto a course, you are committing to attend for the entire length of the 5-, 6- or 7-week course, and therefore we are not able to offer refunds for any classes (or entire courses) missed.

We are also unable to accept any cancellations, as you are reserving a space which could have been offered to another participant and we may not be able to fill that space if you decide to cancel. Before placing your booking, please check that you will be able to attend the whole course.

Classes and courses are non-transferrable.

However, we appreciate that you may not be able to attend every single week, whether it be due to illness, appointments etc.

We always try to be as flexible as possible, and we endeavour to let you make up your missed class(es) where possible within that course timeframe. Please understand that we are a small business, and our classes are time and participant limited so we may not always have the capacity to move you to a different class.

Unfortunately, we cannot allow the roll-over of classes at the end of your course to another course, nor can we offer any refund for classes which you have missed.

If you need to cancel a course with us, before the start or during a course for medical reasons we will require a doctors’ (or relevant healthcare professionals’) note stating that you are unable to exercise. In these circumstances you may be entitled to a refund, but this is at the discretion of Strength In Mumbers, on a case-by-case basis.

We rarely need to cancel classes ourselves, but if we do for any reason, we will offer you an alternative class to make up for it, (sometimes added onto the end of the term), or a refund for the cancelled class.

Refunds will not be offered if classes are cancelled for poor weather conditions or any other ‘Acts of God.’

8. Our Fees

Our fees are clearly stated on our advertising and our communications with you. Our prices will not change part way through a course.

The price will differ for each course as it will reflect how many weeks you will be booking for.

We reserve the right to change our fees from time to time, but this will not affect any course you have already booked.

9. Payment

We encourage payment of our fees through our website, but at our discretion we may also accept payment by BACS transfer.

All fees must be paid in full by you ahead of the first class in the course to secure your place. If you turn up to a class you have not yet paid for, please be aware that you may be turned away.

Late payment may result in your booking being cancelled.

10. Extra Children

You are welcome to bring more than one child with you to our classes. If you do want to bring an extra child who you didn’t mention when you initially booked, please let us know their name, age, and anything else you feel we should know about (including medical conditions).

We never charge for additional children to attend.

11. Your Health and Safety

To ensure you can participate in our classes safely, you will need to have had your postnatal check by your GP. This is usually around 6-8 weeks for a vaginal birth and 8-12 weeks post C section. Please follow the advice of your health professional. If you get the go ahead, you’re welcome through our doors.

Before attending your first class you will be sent a booking confirmation which will contain a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q). This must be completed and submitted to us (electronically) before the start of your first class. Please ensure you read the PAR-Q carefully so that you understand any risks and benefits involved in taking part in a Strength In Mumbers class. Please answer all the questions in the PAR-Q so we have as much information as possible about your health and to ensure we provide you with a class that is safe for you.

Please listen to your body and ensure that you exercise within your own limits during class(es). Our instructors are always happy to help you modify an exercise to suit your abilities.

If the details you provide us from your PAR-Q change part way through a course, for example, you acquire a new injury or health concern, you must make your instructor aware of this before continuing to exercise with us. If you continue your fitness journey beyond your initial course, we may ask you to update your PAR-Q, or if your health changes we ask you keep us updated.

Please wear comfortable and exercise appropriate clothing and footwear to each class. For safety, we do not allow participants to exercise bare foot.

12. The Health and Safety of Others

Your child’s health and safety are important to us, and our instructors are always on hand to help.

Our instructors are not DBS checked and are not responsible for taking care of your child(ren). You therefore agree and understand that you are solely responsible for the health and safety of the children you bring with you to each class.

We ask that you never leave your child unattended during the class.

If you or your child are unwell, we ask you not to attend class until you are feeling better, this includes cases of COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19 after attending one of our classes, we ask you inform your instructor.

Please also inform us of any infectious illnesses such as Chicken Pox, Hand Foot and Mouth and Scarlet Fever. We will need to notify the rest of the class to look out for symptoms. Please follow NHS guidelines and return to class once the illness has cleared up.

13. Your Personal Information

Protecting your (and your child’s) personal information is important to us, and we comply with all applicable law.

We will only use the personal information you provide to us to help you get the most out of your classes, provide you with necessary support and process your payment for your booking.

We will only give your personal information to third parties where the law either requires or allows us to do so.

Your PAR-Q will be held securely for 6 months and will then be destroyed in compliance with data protection guidelines.

You will only receive emails relevant to your class or other services we offer.

Please see the Privacy Policy on our website for more information.

14. Photographs and Marketing

We do like to take photos of classes in action for our social media pages. If you are uncomfortable with this, please let us know and we will make sure to exclude you from the images.

You accept that if you provide us with a testimonial (including an accompanying photograph) that this can be used on any or all our social media platforms and website.

15. Our Responsibility

We are not responsible to you for any loss or damage which we could not have reasonably foreseen, or for any loss or damage which is a result of you failing to comply with these terms.

As explained above, despite the care that we take in running our classes there are inevitably risks associated with taking part in any physical activity of this nature. We cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage that you suffer whilst participating in our classes unless you can show that this was as a result of a lack of care or other wrongdoing on our part.

Nothing in these terms is intended to limit or exclude any legal rights that you may have, including your right to compensation if we provide a poor service or if you are injured as a result of our negligence.

16. Issues and Complaints

We work hard to ensure that everyone has a great time, and we’re sure that you won’t regret signing up for our classes.

However, we know that despite our best efforts, things will occasionally not work out as planned. If you do have any issues, please let us know as soon as you can, and we will do our best to put things right.

This might include for example allowing you to attend another session, or making changes so that an issue does not reoccur.

In most circumstances, we should be able to resolve things with you informally.

17. Changes to Terms & Conditions

We may update these terms from time to time. Any update will not affect any course you are already booked on but will take effect if you choose to continue with us after your current course.

Terms & Conditions updated February 2024 and apply to courses commencing February 2024 onwards.
